New years bring moments of refreshing, recalibrating, and refocusing. As you work to be a better communicator and to leave a greater mark on your community consider the following when it comes to your online persona: UPDATE PROFILES: Review all social media profiles, bios, and account settings. Do you have new titles that need updating? Old contact information that needs removed? New accomplishments you should list? CLEAN HOUSE ON SOCIAL MEDIA: It is always good to keep an eye on photos you are being tagged in online. Scroll through posts from the last few months: are there any that are outdated, in need of removing, no longer operating properly? NEW BUSINESS CARDS: Especially if you are a small business owner, take initiative and review your business cards. Do they need updating? Or reprinting? Do you need to refresh the look of your brand? Do you need to replace the ones in your wallet with fresh ones? POST UPDATES ON YOUR BUSINESS: People care about you. And you never know when someone may be looking for the services you offer. Take time to post on your social media accounts as to what you do, who you are, and how you can aid your followers or potential clients with your services. TOUCH BASE WITH FRIENDS IN PROFESSION: It is always good to keep in touch with people you have established relationships with in your profession. It is also good to check in on friends to see how they are doing. Part of our success is dependent on relationships; it is worth it to maintain relations as you go vs only checking in when you need something. TALK TO PROFESSIONS WITH PULSE ON INDUSTRY: Do you take time to talk to those who have experience in the marketplace you are working in? Do you ask them what observations they are making about today's culture and developments? It can be beneficial to also seek out for any tips they have for how you can best serve the marketplace. SAY THANK YOU: May we never be mercenaries (those only obsessed with money and gain). May we be people who always take time to say thank you to the vendors, clients, even referring friends that have played a role in our story. Take time at the beginning of the year to reach out and say thank you to those who have impacted your life. READ A NEW BOOK: Always seek to stay fresh. By reading - even on topics unrelated to your industry - can exercise your brain and expand the walls of your creativity and understanding. Take time to read and track with dcevelopments in the industry. DEMONSTRATE YOU ARE STAYING FRESH: Let people know you are working hard to keep your edge, to stay ahead of the game, and to stay on top of developments. REACH OUT TO NEW FRIENDS: We are always meeting new people: take time to get to know some of the people you have crossed paths with in the industries. Seek them out, learn more about them and their services. Give some kindness and love. You will never know when you may need their help down the road and even if they never reciprocate -- it is a good thing to be a good human who cares. CONCLUSION: Always work to be your best at your profession. Use the time at the beginning of a new year or new season to update profiles, tell your own developing story online, check in on professions and continue to expand your knowledge. It is a worthwhile task to be current and show yourself as active and growing! May this be your best year yet! Summary List
